6. A friend of mine just announced on FB that he and his wife are going veg

and most of the responses were right off this card, along with "good! More meat for me!" "You'd better do your homework and stock up on supplements; humans evolved to eat meat and without it you'll get sick." Only one other person and myself were at all supportive. It's unreal how hostile people are to non meat eaters.

10. Ok in the past week I've had my first experiences with this phenomenon

... I mean I got a little of this sort of thing when I first told people but for the next few months, not really much of this at all. But suddenly at the last two significant family gettogethers around meals since then I think I could fill in 70% of this bingo card.


I didn't doubt this happened to people but it is another thing to actually experience.

I guess it's because it's sinking in that I'm truly following through with what I said about my diet and so now they feel like they have to defend themselves.

Wow.

Makes me pine for the days of political arguments with them. :)

11. Hang in there....

The first 999 times you have to answer one of these questions or defend yourself against an inane mischaracterization of vegetarianism are hard.

But it gets easier by number 1000. :D
