| Incredibly stupid TV commercial I saw |
|
I know, most of them are pretty lame, and I usually mute them. But I happened to be at the sink washing dishes and didn't have access to the remote. Perhaps this ad isn't even new, but it's the first time I've seen it.
A food-demonstrator in a grocery store offers a sample of some Chef Boyardee canned crap to a kid. She begins to tell the boy that each bowl contains a full serving of vegetables. However, before the "V" word is mentioned, Mom signals food-lady to keep quiet!!
WTF? I don't have kids, so I don't understand why "vegetable" has to be treated like a dirty word. Even if I were raising children as omnis, I would want them to know that vegetables are nutritious and tasty.
And I would hope most omnis would be smart enough to know that there is very little nutrition in that can, veggie or otherwise.

There's another (same product) where I think the husband starts talking about the "serving of vegetables" and the wife bangs a bunch of pans to drown him out.
I guess they're playing to the old adage about kids hating vegetables. I find commercials to be seriously dumbed down media.

I am of the belief that children should be taught that vegetables are healthy and delicious from a young age.
