| Anyone ever make their own seitan? Is it easy? |
|
Since there are no seitan recipes on the recipe thread, I'm assuming it's "boiling water" easy. A recipe I saw on vegweb appears to confirm that.
I'm trying to do everything in my power to save money, since I'm pretty much broke! I'd also like to bake my own bread. I suffered a bit of sticker shock recently when I check out the bread at my local crunchy store. One loaf cost approximately $8.00! :wow:

| 1. LeftyMom does, not that she posts here anymore. |
|
I'll see if I can get instructions from her.
And yes, it's excellent!

Paul wants to try and make it. His first batch was...not so good.

| 3. Here is a link to the recipe I saw on vegweb. |
|
This one seems pretty straightforward. Is it similar to what Paul attempted? http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=33785.0

| 5. My first (and only) batch was..."not so good" either. |
|
I decided it was something I was comfortable buying. Compared to other faux-meats, it's fairly cheap. If I could find someone who made it locally, I'd probably buy that instead but I doubt I'd make it again.

Sorry it took so long to think of the site. I also wanted to add that I just found Herbamare salt which makes EVERYthing taste delicious. This salt works well with regular non daiya soy cheese on a pizza if you are in a pinch.
