Oh crap. I saw a rat in my compost.

My compost never smells. I only throw uncooked fruits and vegetables, eggshells, coffee grounds, and dead plant materials in my compost bin. I've never seen rodents near it. I'm ready to get rid of it. Any advice? I certainly don't like the idea of rodent poop in my compost either.

1. We stopped throwing eggshells and potato peels in the pile

and that seemed to help with our raccoon problem. We would find eggshells all over the property! (We live on 11 acres). I've never seen a rat there, but that doesn't mean they don't come to visit.
