I just got an iBook and am still learning my way around. Unfortunately the help for iChat AV seems rather sparse. I use it to talk to friends through AIM but there are a couple things I haven't figured out.
 1) How do I change my profile?

 2) My computer is set to automatically log on to my user without requiring a password, but is there a way I can require a password to sign on to AIM? It is just a thing I am used to from AIM for Windows.

Sorry if these things are brutally obvious but as I said I am new to the Macintosh and can't seem to find these functions. By the way I use OS X 10.3.9 and am on a G4 iBook.

Thanks everyone, I will doubtless have more questions in the future.

    | | Start iChat AV.
Then, from the menu bar, click "iChat" -> "Preferences" -> "Accounts".

Most Mac apps use "Preferences" to control application options.

    | | do you just use AIM, or also MSN etc? if so, there are couple multi-im clients that are quite good and even more feature rich than ichat (but lack video chat) |

    | | actually I just ended up downloading the AIM client from aol. (however I have been able to chat with msn users with it.) iChat didn't really work for me. |
