Trouble with Yahoo on my Mac |
|
When I try to access my Yahoo email, Safari quits. When I try to access it on Internet Explorer, it won't open my mail. I have no trouble getting the Yahoo main page, just my mail.
I was able to access my Yahoo email on my PC at work today. It is just on my Mac that it won't open.
This just started two days ago.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

1. it shouldn't be doing that. |
|
if safari keeps quitting on you like that, you might want to try repairing disk permissions.

I guess I just need to use a different email provider.
I went to appletalk. Took me forever to register. Finally did. Now I can't find where to post questions. I did find Apple chat where I could ask a question. It asked for my Mac's serial number. Found it under 'About this Mac' but the apple site said it wasn't a legitimate serial number?
I should have known. I have tried to wade through that apple talk site before. It's a mess.
Maybe I should try to download Firefox. Damnit, the main reason I started using Safari was this same problem - I couldn't get to my Yahoo mail on Internet Explorer. WTF is the problem?

9. I access my Yahoo email on Safari all the time |

So I don't think it's a "Mac" problem per se. Have you done all the most recent updates?
There is a little program called "MacJanitor" that will let you run the Unix cleanup commands that usually run during the night if you leave your computer on. Try downloading that application and running it if the "repair permissions" doesn't clear it up.
Also, since Safari is free, you could delete your copy and download a new one from Apple and see if that cleared it up.

8. Try using a different browser. |
|
Camino, Firefox, Mozilla.
That will tell you if it's Yahoo's problem or if it's in Safari.
We've had some ongoing weirdness with Yahoo recently, so it may be Yahoo implemented some non-standard code and forgot to test it.
