Want the fastest Windows XP Core Duo notebook? Then buy a Mac. According to benchmarks carried out by website GearLog, Apple's MacBook Pro running Windows XP is a better Adobe Photoshop rig than any other Core Duo laptop on the market.

GearLog's test results can be found here. The site used a recently detailed technique that shoehorns the Microsoft operating system onto Intel-based Macs - a trick that last week won its formulators $13,000 in prize money.

It really is a screamin' fast laptop though.

2. Why in the world would anyone buy a MacBook Pro to run Windoze?

Like buying a Lamborghini to go to the corner market. It may work but it's not best use.

3. Geeks do it because they can. Look at it this way: if XP runs on

Mac hardware, that gives one less reason to buy a Dell.

Dell has bought Alienware in response to Apple coming over to play in their home field. That's good, Apple is forcing competitors to spend money.

4. You're right. In fact I predicted a month or so ago that exposure to OS X

by using dual boot machines would create far more converts to OS X. Few who've tried it go back to windose. Clean forgot about that.

Jobs knew it too. You notice Jobs hasn't said shit about what is going on with the porting of XP. I think he knew it would happen. Apple is a hardware company, the OS adds value. I don't think he cares what you do with the computer, just as long as you put your money down.

6. There seem to be a lot of rumors that the next version of OS X will

allow some sort of "red box" (?) emulation of XP. This seems to be in line with what you're talking about.

free advertising. If they didn't want it to happen, the lawyers would have been all over these guys.

I still don't want XP on my lovely MacBook Pro, but I would like the option of running the occasional Windows program that I just can't get any other way. :)

12. I have a few apps from Dolby that only run on Windows.

Now I only need to carry one laptop with me when I go out to a job. 90% of my work is done on OS X. 10% on Windows. Now I only carry one laptop.
