Anyone know a good DVD-copy software |
|
purely for back up purposes, of course, I had a friend just lose several hundred DVDs in a fire, and I want to protect my collection. These are, of course, mostly commercial DVDs...I'm running an iBook with a Superdrive.
Thanks-

1. Handbrake will rip and save them as MP4 |

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/21117I've had no trouble with this software. I've "backed up" about ten DVD's.

2. I use MactheRipper (free) and Toast 7 (retail) |
|
But if you want to "backup" the entire movie in the same quality as the original DVD, you'll have to get a dual-layer DVD burner, along with dual-layer discs (which are quite pricey, at around $3 each, even in bulk).
But Toast 7 allows you to compress the DVD, or choose audio tracks/menus/extras you don't want, in order to get the movie on a regular disc.
