Epson /Love /Hate /*!$^&**Scanner |
|
Had an Epson CX4600 Scanner/copier/printer (or Printer/Scanner/Copier or ...) that the print heads failed on. Nice lady at Epson said, "Oh, it's out of warranty, but because you're a loyal Epson customer (and you just spent over $100 on ink cartridges) we'll fix it. Here's a FedEx label, send it back to us". Three months later they send me a new CX4800, which takes different ink cartridges. OK, I can deal with that. I'll sell the cartridges or exchange them or something.
I install the software and now the scanner is "Warming up or busy, please try again later". Called Epson. Different lady who now wants $$$$ for the service call. The website help told me to reinstall the software. And NOW I can't get Photoshop to run along with the scanner being busy.
RANT, RANT, RANT.
Reinstalled OX 10.4 & upgrades (Archive & install) Reinstalled Adobe CS, reinstalled the Epson stuff and it's still not working.
MERDE, MERDE, MERDE!!

You have to have the ink cartridges installed for the scanner to work. So that means I have to keep using the printer at least once a day for the print heads will dry up.
I didn't need to buy this one. It came free with my PowerBook and Epson replaced it - out of warranty with the newer model.
I wouldn't buy an HP now - corporate spying, and besides they're fairly heavy contributors to the Repubs.

Their stuff works really well. I don't know another printer I'd trust much less one who donates to our side.

4. Does HP do a printer that |
|
prints on DVD's and CD's?
I wasn't able to find one. And a photographer friend loves his large format Epsons. Won't use anything else.

8. I've not seen a printer that does this... |
|
but I did see a disc burner that also somehow *etches* a design onto the disc. http://www.lightscribe.com/

6. I now have an Epson, my previous P/S/C was an HP. |
|
For me, the HP was a total piece of crap. So bad that I disconnected it, put it on the floor, and stomped the hell out of it. I had to go out and buy another P/S/C, but I felt so much better. Sometimes you just gotta do it.

and it's waiting to go to our county's assigned dumping place. It was a freeby with my computer and was a pain from day one. I'll stick with Canon which has always been a reliable product for me.

I hate those effing printers and will never buy another. Yep, the printheads will dry out and you'll be out of luck.
Do some internet searching on just how bad epsons are, and I'll bet you never buy another. There's a reason they are always freebies.
