Anyone else having problems burning CDs from iTunes? |
|
This is the first time I've tried to burn an iTunes playlist (that I ripped myself) onto CD since the update for the iPhone (v. 7.4.2)
Intializing begins on the blank disc, then seconds later I get this error message: "The attempt to burn a disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media"
I found a bizarre work around on a bulletin board somewhere.
It is: Go to System Preferences->International->Language Drag any other language besides English to the top of the list. Then drag English back to the top of the list. Then restart.
After doing this, I was able to burn a CD in iTunes with no problem. But, only the one CD. Still getting the same message.
Is this an iTunes bug?

They offer the usual generic list of troubleshooting tips...."make sure you're using the right kind of recordable CD"..."clean the lens of your drive"....etc.
I'm now convinced this is an iTunes software problem because I can still easily burn CDs from the finder.
Here are my specs...733MHz G4 PowerPC running Tiger 10.4.10 iTunes version 7.4.2 (4) Memorex CD-Rs
