So I went ahead and bought the time capsule with my new imac...... |
|
It came, but was dead in the box.....so sad. Apple is sending me a new one tomorrow so all is good I hope. On a good note, this is the first glitch I've had with the system.

1. And that could have been from rough handling in transit. |

3. Yeah their packaging is very good, but there can still be fatal damage |
|
without visible damage to the packaging. I used to work the Post Office and even though proper care is taken, shit happens.
I'm glad Apple responded correctly and promptly.

My wife got one and it Takes FOREVER for the initial backup. (even through a direct Ethernet connection)
Time Machine is hardly transparent. It hogs processes and is slow overall to the Time Capsule.
She has two brand new Macs and the latest updates.

6. So far it is working but I would agree with you |
|
It is slow and does hog processes. It also seems to back up constantly and there is no way I can find to schedule it differently. I am not too happy with it for the price I paid. Then again talk to me when I lose something, or have a problem and I might think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I am not currently using it as my wireless router and if something happens to the set up I have now, I will have a backup!
Thanks for the advice.

7. I have it, with airport, and frankly, I can't believe it |
|
was so easy and useful. I had a long research letter, lots of work, and I I used the address and a bit of the research for a follow up letter. And accidently saved it as it was, losing many hours of work. One quick search of time capsule, and all that work was recovered, seemlessly and without effort.
And the AIRport is faster, more secure, and has more range than my old airport.
