Can't get a secured network to work with my Airport Express. |
|
I have a open connection. It works, but I have a secured WPA2 network, it says it is on, all bars are black and in iStumbler it shows a good 70% signal but nothing loads. The linksys network works just fine though it tops out at 30% signal level.
In Airport Utility my AE doesn't show up when I am connected to the Linksys network. Other secured networks show up then disappear.
WPA2 is on channel 1
Linksys is on channel 6

1. Sounds like a configuration issue. |

Not clear if you want the Airport Express (a)to join the Linksys network or (b)be a separate network you want to use (for internet access?).
You must 'switch to' the AE when doing any of this. (When you are connected to the Linksys network, You can't be connected to any other, e.g. Airport Express.
(a) Use Airport Utility to set up the AE to join the Linksys or extend the range (WDS) (b) Use Airport Utility to set up a distinct network for the AE and then change your Mac's "allegience" to this new network
You will most likely have to reset the AE with the reset button in order for it to be "seen" by the utility. This will, of course, make it necessary to create your network all over again (name, password, etc.) I just went through this process when we eliminated the last ethernet-connected Mac in the house.
Hope this helps.

2. I've tried all three types of resets. I've rebuilt the networks numerous times. |

I might do it again tonight.
