Experience with Laptop keys coming off keyboard |
|
Last night my kitty decided to try out her paws at typing on my G4 laptop. I grabbed her and when I did she took the Y key totally off, and the #6 key hanging on, and wobbly.
I of course panicked at first, but got out my magnifying glass and did the repair it required. The #6 key was the easiest, but the Y key didn't seat correctly. I got a tiny screwdriver and was able to make the adjustment it needed, I heard a little click as it popped back into place.
While the Y key was off I checked out the device holding the key into place. The device apparently has four little posts and the keys have a hinge that snap into the posts.
Anyway I thought I would share my story and discovery concerning keys coming off and how to do the repair yourself. I hope if anyone needs this info it will come in as useful info.

1. I lost the tab key and could not replace it. |

of course, puppy's jaws (he was only 130 lbs at the time) managed to mangle and destroy it.
