you need the family pack- costs $70 more and can be installed on 5 computers. Worth the money? Go to the apple website and look at the features so you can determine if it is worth it to you. I had to get it, as I was several versions behind and my iPod touch required an OS upgrade.

2. We're on our first Macs. Both have Leopard. We love it. |
|
But we have no frame of reference relative to older OSes.

3. Something to consider when upgrading to leopard |
|
You no longer get the option of using Classic OS-9. This was one of my main reasons for not upgrading.
But just a few days ago my G4 laptop developed a vertical yellow line 1 pixel wide running down my screen. So, I will probably have to buy a new/refurb'd MacBookPro at some point in the near future when I have the money to do so. Until then I will have to adjust to the yellow line. It isn't that noticeable with a white page, but very noticeable on darker pages.
Now since MBP's come with leopard I've decided I can make that adjustment as well, since I have a Swivel based iMac. It will still be able to switch from OS-X and OS-9. I rarely use OS-9, but I have some graphic files that require OS-9, other than that I don't need that operating system.

4. It came on my Air, liked it enough to put on my macbook. |
|
I went back to using my black macbook cuz the air is so fucking slow but still light and nice for traveling.
I missed some of the features of leopard so bought a single user copy.
I like the way it displays little thumbnails, or big ones if you use the search function.
When you've got hundreds of docs and pdfs, it's great to see big images of the first page for each without opening them.
The same is true for images and videos, you get a thumbnail.
I guess time machine is nice, too.
Stay away from syncing calendars, though, or be careful. Syncing through mobile me my calendars with iPhone and Entourage created dupes of events on my Entourage and iCal and I don't know how to undo it.

you can peruse entire documents without opening the assigned application. Every page of a PDF. Every slide in a presentation. Every frame of a video.
Yes, by all means, Leopard.

6. Just got my first Mac...came with Leopard |
|
I like it so far, but my opinion isn't worth much, as I have no experience with previous Mac OS.

9. I have the MacBook with the "new" touchpad |
|
It works really well with Leopard. The three and four finger swipe options are great. I especially like the ability to manage multiple applications. My son uses Spaces a lot and loves it - I understand that is something exclusive to Leopard.

12. I would give credence to the long time Mac users on this, for I have no basis of comparison, |
|
but as a former Microsoft/Dell user, Leopard and iMacs are a thing of beauty. Again, take the advice form the long time users and not a recent Microsoft refugee, but I thought I'd provide my newbie perspectve.

13. I went from Tiger to Leopard yesterday |
|
I first tried upgrading over Tiger, but that did not go well at all. So I wiped and did a fresh install of Leopard. It's working very well today. Nice and zippy. I was happy enough with Tiger, but I think I will like Leopard as much or more.

My nephew loaded it on my iBook, but he also loaded the Leopard updates from online. He said without them, I'd get a lot of beach ball.
Leopard plus the added updates works beautifully. I have the last version of Tiger on my desktop (can't update to Leopard due to current system limitations) and I have no complaints with that, either.
