Any advice on text-only browsers?

I find lynx intuitive but a bit painful to use. I haven't figured out eLinks yet. Is there something more user friendly available?

I sometimes browse with images off in whatever browser I'm using to increase loading speed and decrease bandwidth usage. I expect a text-only browser might outperform standard browsers for that purpose, and indeed lynx loads pages very quickly but then link navigation seems clunky
