Though today's Mac bears little physical or software resemblance to the original Macintosh released on this day 25 years ago, making it this far is quite an accomplishment.
From the iconic "1984" ad, through the doldrums of the late nineties when Michael Dell said "What would I do? I’d shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders.”, through the company's resurgence with the iMac, it has been an interesting 25 years.
I'm relatively new to the Mac community, having bought my PowerMac just three years ago, but I remember ogling that original mac at the computer store, knowing that I would have one someday, not realizing that it would take me 22 years. Several Commodore machines, from a VIC-20 through and Amiga 2000, a number of generic Windows machines, and I've finally made it home.
