Just installed Firefox... |
|
Sadly, the icon didn't show up in the Applications folder. This is odd as using Spotlight finds the app right away.
Is that normal?
Thx!

If you must, use Camino instead.

Camino is also awesome, and will be even more awesome when 2.0 gets out of beta.

13. Does it allow the user to chnage the color of visited links? |
|
The only browser I know of that allows that is Firefox.

Camino and the newest OmniWeb are the best for me.

14. I've had good luck with FireFox |
|
I also run XP on my Mac, and using Firefox makes the transition almost imperceptible (other than the fact that Windows is slow and sucks).

3. Firefox was so buggy for me. Would quit unexpectedly and frequently. |
|
I am using OMNI and I really like it, but I think I might have mentioned that to you already.

4. What version of Firefox? |
|
3.0.9 has behaved itself nicely so far... though I haven't looked to see if it, like how it does in Windows, cause memory leaks...

6. I am not sure which version. I downloaded all the updates until I switched to OMNI |
|
I don't know what memory leaks are. All I know is that it seemed unstable and unreliable, particularly if I were working in multiple tabs.
You sure seem to be enjoying your new computer!

9. Maybe it got better after I switched. I see that what I have is 3.0.1, so I have missed |
|
some updates.
But I am so happy with OMNI, that I am not inclined to go back. The only thing I don't care for is the search function. I really like that Firefox put it in a toolbar on the bottom. But that's not biggie. I love the tabs view on OMNI because I can easily tell when a page has been auto-updated and has changes - a great plus when moderating.

10. Here's why I stick with Firefox ...... |
|
When I center click (click the scroll wheel) a link (say, a DU thread), it opens in a new tab and automatically switches to that tab. I can't get any other browser to do that. Also, and equally important, I can change the color of visited links. For me, unvisited links show up in blue. Visited links in red. The default colors are to close in value in other browsers. This color choice, on DU, for example, makes it much easier to see what threads I've read or what posts within threads I've clicked.

11. Some other browsers you might look at, besides Camino, Firefox, OmniWeb, & Safari: |
|
Opera is very customizable Shiira has an incredibly informative "view source" Sunrise has a "print webpage as pdf function" that saves a few clicks if you do this often I like iCab, too
