MacSpeech Dictate... anyone?

I just bought this speech recognition system and I think is total krap. Anyone has this at home? Did you had any problems with it?

1. It takes a long time to train the program and to train yourself. Still

you will have a small percentage of errors. I have IBM VIA Voice. It's probably considered crude compared to the New Versions of MacSpeech.

It takes practice.

I was getting very frustrated. I still have until August (class begins) to get a hang on it. Thanks!

3. Position of the microphone and accents can throw it off. Sometimes you

may have to teach it troubling words it seems to miss. Don't expect perfection.

Ambient noise can cause problems too.

4. I was about to give up on it.

I uninstalled the software, packed it and left the box alone for two days. I calmed down, waited until no one was home and set my computer in a very quiet place. I did both the installing and "re-calibration" again. This time I moved the microphone away from my face and to the side of the mouth and that did it. It now works wonderfully and with no mistakes (only with the first recallibration!!) . I didn't want to mess with it after I confirmed that it is actually a good program. I am setting sometime just to calibrate this thing without interruptions. I guess the clue is "patience" but it isn't complicated. Thank you for your advise, I really appreciated it.

5. Great. I'm glad it worked out for you. I'd use it but if I talk more than

five minutes I get a sore throat.

6. I had to give up on it, and not because it is a bad program

I start speaking the conure starts going... and it recognizes the conure not me.... plenty of EEEEKSs and PEETES

I guess I should let the bird use it now.
