New iMac 27" seems VERY hot. |
|
Setting up a new computer for my 96-year-old father-in-law. He wanted the huge screen because he needs to have things super-big and bright to see well. He's very happy with it on first impression. But...
After a couple of hours of use, the computer is extremely hot. Much hotter than any of the many various Mac's I've used over the years. So hot that I find it hard to believe it's supposed to be this way. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

1. My newer iMAC 21" seems to get hot at times... |
|
I've had it for 9 months and no heat related problems. I have always kept my computers in line with open air, a fan or near a window, though.
Tikki p.s. doesn't seem like it is hot all the time..

2. Brand new? Contact Apple and talk to them about it. Document the contact. |

3. Demands on the system can heat up a computer. |
|
Check Activity Monitor in Utilities to see if there is a process putting extra demands on the system.
