Has anyone completely replaced MSOffice with iWork?

1. I used to use MSOffice or its components regularly, but I don't recently really

need them for work purposes -- towards the end, I merely used them as conveniences. At that level, I've had no problems with iWork:

But it's my impression iWork components are less sophisticated than MSOffice. For example, if you regularly insert complicated equations into MSWord documents, you'll probably have to get some plugins (freeware or proprietary) to do that in iWork Pages, and there will be some learning curve. It seems that if you're used to using macros in Excel, your alternative in Numbers will be something like AppleScript, which brings its own problems

I think the bottom line is that if you're doing plain vanilla stuff, you won't have much trouble. If you're interested in fancier stuff, there are probably work-arounds but there may be some research involved and a learning curve

2. For plain vanilla no issues

but to be honest I ended up installing word (for hubby) on the mac. I got tired of converting files,

3. Not as feature rich as Office

iWorks has a long way to go to match the power and features of MSOffice. Pages is probably the strongest app, numbers the weakest. I use all three on the Mac and iPad, but often find myself sending files to Office for work beyond the initial inputting.

4. I use Keynote instead of Powerpoint

You can save the files to Powerpoint and give them to Office users, but the effects get lost.

The difference in effects between the two is like the difference between Mac and PC. I also like that I can use my ipod as a remote complete with previews and script that the audience can't see.

5. try NeoOffice instead. way cool. and stable.

6. If you're looking for a good, free word processor, try Bean

I don't care for iWorks myself. I usually use MS, but sometimes Open Office. (I'm looking into Neo Office)
