macbook power adapter problems |
|
i've had my macbook for over a year now. problem is, i've had to change out the adapter once and after 2-3 months, it's happening again! it won't charge my macbook. the light won't go on (green OR orange) on the magnetic lock. when it happened the first time, it sputtered a few times and then just stopped charging.
right now i'm working off my battery, but will be going to the genius bar tomorrow. they replaced the adapter outright at no charge the first time, but i'm worried that this is a recurring event and they'll start making me pay at nearly $80 a pop for a new adaptor. i'm a power user, but don't know if that matters....
anyone else had problems like this and if so, how were they resolved?

1. Have you got the extended warranty? |
|
Have you tried taking the battery out and then plugging the charger in?

i thought that apple's sterling reputation would speak for itself, and i didn't spring for one. the battery on my macbook isn't removable (by me).
sooooo, i ended up taking it back to the genius bar and they gave me another adaptor gratis. now THAT is excellent customer service! working fine now!

3. Run-don't walk- back to the Apple store and spring for Applecare! |
|
Or if you're not sure about the extra $250 go to an authorised Apple repair facility and hang around the service desk. You'll buy the Applecare plan in about 30 minutes.
You've got a laptop - they're prone to the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, which means that they are far more likely to be struck by those arrows.
My machines have had nice little trips to Cupertino courtesy of Applecare.

i may do that when i have the extra $250. however, i'm REALLY considering buying an ipad, since i mostly use my macbook to access the net. it's very impressive, especially the 2nd edition 3G ipad, and so light!
(mac customer for life now!)
