| agh, I'm exhausted...........and not done! |
|
I left too much baking to the last two days, and also had to run Santa's errands early on the 24th.
Two more batches of cookies are going to have to wait until morning. Plus coconut cream pie, an apple strudel (made with filo), cranberry flummery, breakfast and dinner.
Breakfast (our traditional): poached eggs with tarragon mushroom bearnaise on english muffins, sausages, and the strudel. To start, thawed frozen raspberries in my grandmother's pink depression glass berry bowls.
Dinner: hasty hots for appetizer, pork loin rolled with a spinach feta wild rice stuffing, roasted red potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes with chipotle and cream, corn pudding, a salad with sliced apple and pear, cranberry bread.
And I'm taking vicodin for a knee injury of two months ago. Wheeeeee!
I wanted to try making the Saveur Parker House rolls, but that ain't gonna happen.
Now I have to wrap presents before bed. Somebody stop me. I'm obviously channeling HW.

Take it a little easier today if you can, but OH, how happy your guests must be when they walk through your door and sniff the baking aromas! Happy holidays to you, grasswire! :hi:

| 3. Back when I "did" Christmas |
|
I always made rolls or coffee cake the night before and held it in the fridge overnight, to be baked in the morning while presents were opened.
If I could have gotten away with those nasty frozen breakfasts, I would have.
Three gourmet meals on Christmas? No frigging way, Jose.
Yours does sound wonderful, though. Wanna be my live in chef next year?

I'm not laughing at you, sweetie, merely with you. I know how it feels to take on way to much in such a short time.
I hope you were able to get everything done you wanted to and can have some time this evening and tomorrow to recover.
I don't know about you but the pain pills keep me moving in a way I wouldn't be able to without them. Take care of that knee. You're going to need it when you're an old lady and it's gonna suck big time if it's still messed up.
I know your friends and family surely appreciate all the love you put into nourishing their souls and bodies.
