| Black Truffle Butter - Oh, my! |
|
I had a recipe for sauteed spinach that called for truffle oil. I couldn't find that, but, amazingly, found the truffle butter. Pricey, but packed with truffles and a little bit goes a long way.
The spinach came out wonderfully and I have had some on fresh bread, but I am curious how else I might enjoy it. I plan to make every bit of it worth it.
How would you use it?

Smear a bit on the flesh under the skin of the breast. Use the drippings to make a gravy....

| 2. Oh, yes! I would also think swirling a little in the gravy at the end would accentuate |
|
the truffle taste.
I am totally addicted (bad, bad, bad).

| 3. I've never tried truffles. What do they taste like? |
|
And where did you find the butter?

| 4. The taste is very hard to describe. |
|
Very earthy and deep and rich and primitive.
There is a tiny little shop here that carries some specialty cheeses and had the truffle butter in little 4 oz containers. It was a splurge, but it will last a long time because the taste is very pungent and very little is required. It has actual pieces of truffle in the butter.

| 5. Thanks for explaining. I can see how it might be hard to describe. |
|
I'm going to put that on "to try" list of foods and keep an eye out for it.

| 12. I think truffle oil is more generally available and will definitely give the essence of truffles. |
|
Now, you might hate it - it's one of those kinds of foods.
But, beware. If you love it, you have signed up for life.

I have prosciutto that needs eating and creamy fontina (instead of cream cheese). This is going to be an amazing treat.

| 14. I did not. Got up late, weather was bad and I discovered that husband had eaten |
|
the English Muffins when I wasn't looking!
Will let you know when I get it. I really like the ham slices and cream cheese ideas better than what I had on hand, so I am going to try and pick these up tomorrow or Tuesday..... when I replace the English Muffins!
