Anyone have a recipes for sand dabs?

I don't really like fish and I really don't like the way my pans and everything smell after cooking them.

But, someone is giving us some (freshly caught, scaled and gutted, thankfully) and my husband loves them.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I know what you mean about cooking fish. I don't really like to cook it, except for halibut and salmon.

5. He is a truly awful cook and wants me to cook them. Honestly, I am much more

likely to eat them if I cook them. He might boil them for all I know.

The first time I had dinner at his business partner's house, she microwaved the fish. I kid you not. It was one of the worst meals I have ever had.

I have decided to make the Emeril LaGasse menuiere recipe. I trust him and, if nothing else, I can just sop up that lovely butter sauce with the potatoes.

8. Cinnamon helps clean up that fish odor.

Put a cinnamon stick or a couple of tsp of ground cinnamon in a small pan of water and heat it to a simmer. Let it simmer until you can really smell the cinnamon. Shut it off but leave it on the stove until it cools.

9. Have you ever tried PureAyre?

I buy the one for "pet smells" but I've found it works on all odors really well. It's all natural too and doesn't have a lasting smell of its own, which I like.



ETA: The directions say to spray in ON the odor (fabric, carpet, whatever) but I've had good results spraying it in the air too. :hi:

11. I might try this.

We often have odors related to the holding tank and the bilge. I put those little $1 renuzit's around and spray with febreeze, but sometimes I need something more.

My goal is to have an odor free boat, at least most of the time. So I am willing to try all kinds of new things.

12. I don't think exquisitely fresh fish smells that much

but have found that baking in milk reduces the stink of really oily stuff like smelts.

what are they until I clicked on the link. They remind me a little of smelt we ate when I lived in Michigan. My mother use to make a beer batter for the smelts and fry them. They were delicious.
