I used chicken bones and threw in some turkey stock I already had. It got rave reviews for its "meatiness"!

| 3. Yep. That's the kind of stock I just like to put some egg noodles in and eat. |

| 7. Ack!!! I am out of stock!!! |
|
Seems just a day or two ago I was thinking, "What will I do with all this stock!!??" and now it's all gone!!
I'm a relatively new "cook." And I'm not sure my taste buds can discern the difference between homemade stock and canned stock.... but I *can* tell you that I LOVE the process of making stock. I'll cook the whole chicken... I'll roast the bones... I'll do whatever you say will make a better stock!!!
I love the simmering, the aromas... the knowing that I made it from scratch.....
Guess I'd better go shopping. :)

| 9. I just dumped a quart of homemade chicken stock into the Misnestroen that CTYankee posted here |
|
a few months back. It needed 2 qts, so I had to use commercial for the other quart. But my homemade stock was quite thick and rich, like yours. MMMMMMM...
Sadly, I haven't had any luck finding beef bones for making soup stock anywhere! Any suggestions?

| 10. Did you ask at the meat counter? Should be some bones in the back... |
|
And I've seen soup bones for sale here and there. If they don't have any or look at you funny, there's always oxtails. Or, if desperate, ribs.
(Or just start eating a lot of T-bones.)

| 11. Our local store often carries marrow bones |
|
- but they never have oxtails. They told me they have to special order them - by the case - and do I want a whole case...
uh, if my freezer was bigger, maybe.
short ribs, neck bones, marrow bones - make friends with the guy in the meat department!
