| 1. He was in Haiti, where he mainly visited Port au Prince. He hooked up with Sean Penn, too. |
|
The final scene was shot from a helicopter at low level over Port au Prince. The predominant color was blue. The bright blue of the cheap tarps made in China. They function as shelter in their own right, or as repair to shelters in need.
I say "shelter" since there was little evidence of actual buildings of any real, widely accepted definition.
What a sad, sad place.

| 2. I saw that with the sound off (the last shot) |
|
and I noticed the blue and wondered what it was about. Now I know.
I really liked the segment with Sean Penn. That guy is real. How refreshing to see a celebrity getting down and dirty and not just for cameras.

| 3. it's unfortunate that he is opposite American Pickers |
|
But I know I can always catch either one of them on the rerun. I love American Pickers.

| 4. That episode supplanted Beirut as his best ever |
|
I was absolutely fascinated by the street art, the chicken pastries (drool), and the way the people were quietly, doggedly getting the job the world isn't interested in doing for them done anyway.
I also admired the brutality of his honesty over trying to feed people and ending up doing harm rather than good. If the food is limited and everyone is hungry, that's always going to happen. "Complicated" is right.
