(or eating) what?
For me, Hot Cross Buns and asparagus are my two favorite Spring goodies.
A long time ago, it was a Fanny Farmer Buttercream Egg. But they don't make them anymore.
What are your favorite Spring delicacies?

| 3. I absolutely forgot rhubarb |
|
okay add that, too!
But it just does not like growing in TN so far. In New York, it grew mammoth-sized. Here, it seems to grow a few years and then fizzle.
But nothing beats rhubarb pie. mmmmmm is right.

| 4. Yum. Are you going to make jam? |
|
Are the prices good?
All the standard strawberry jam has HFCS in it now :(
On a side note, the Iroquois have a special Strawberry ceremony. We kids used to mimic it (a bit later in the year like June when the berries ripened if I remember). But the little wild strawberries in Upstate NY are worth having a ceremony over...
I bet yours in California taste just as delicious. :P

Giant strawberries that would normally assume are not too sweet and rather cardboard-like.
They were wonderful! Sweet and flavorful.

| 5. I'm looking for that asparagus |
|
and I don't mean those skinny first shoots, either. I want the nice thick stuff I can grill.
I'm also looking forward to those endless fish salads, although I think I'll still cook one more pot of crack green posole before the mercury starts to climb.

| 7. Spring favorites: artichokes, asparagus, strawberries |
|
peas, and tender lettuces. When I lived in the country I found an asparagus patch that had been planted long before we bought the property. I dug out my hand trowel and little rake, sat down cross-legged to weed, chopped the rake in to clear out the dead weeds and pulled up a next of baby snakes! I didn't know until that day that I could run backwards so fast without getting up. Butt cheeks, don't fail me now! :hi:

When you were in gym class way back when, did they make you play that crab game where you crawl around like that on the gymnasium floor?
Bet you never thought you'd need that skill in real life. :)
