1. Kinda cute & cool but

at $71.50 (includes a recipe book), it seems more than a little over-priced to me

But then again, maybe I'm just a cheapskate!

I like their website. Haven't seen any tupperware (other than the few pieces in my cupboards) for years. I enjoyed seeing all their new and updated items as well as some old favorites. Thank you!

2. I saw the chopper thingy in the Macy's weekend ad for $59.

I guess the extra at the tupperware website is for the recipe book.

Benefit, IMO. It could go camping. It could be used in a power outage. Sorta like a hand-crank radio or flashlight.

Downside: I'll bet that whipper attachment stays greasy unless it goes through a dishwasher.

8. it's tupperware. add a price just for the name. it's like pampered chef.

my sister used to sell pampered chef and there was stuff through there that I would find elsewhere that was quite similar for less. just the name on it added that extra price. Now, don't get me wrong... there are things I am willing to spend the extra on. I have some tupperware containers I bought specifically for my flour and sugar because I know they seal. Other things I do not need to worry as much.

btw... i am a cheapskate too. I like to call it being frugal.

3. It reminds me of the Rocket Chef

As Seen on TV several years ago. I found one in a thrift store and it soon became one of my go-to tools in the kitchen. Works really well, especially for things like making salsa where you just throw everything in and turn the crank a few times. Or for chopping onions. It doesn't have the salad spinner attachment though.

4. And you need musles like Popeye to run it!

Most people who fall for stuff like this use it once or twice and then it sits in a cabinet, taking up space, for the rest of their lives. The truth is that they just don't work well and are enough of a nuisance to clean that it's just not worth it.

A knife is going to work better for chopping, a grater for grating, and a whisk for mixing.

The exception to all this is the Mouli grater, which does a great job on vegetables for slaw and hard cheeses.

In other words, save your money.

7. and a food mill for pureeing

which has the additional advantage that it separates pulp from skins on roasted peppers and tomatoes. And maybe a mandolin for getting really thin slices of veggies.

5. There was a cheap version of these popular a few years ago

I think I got mine for under 15 bucks. It lasted a few months. It was great at making whipped cream...It got so convenient that I'm probably still sitting on a few of those pounds. It made decent salsa too.

I enjoyed having it but don't really miss it now that it's long gone to the broken gadget heap.

6. that might be a consideration, but Tupperware seems to last forever

Or maybe I just like the color. Heh. It is my favorite color. Fresh green.
