| Does anyone ever see licorice ice cream for sale anymore? |
|
It was a reasonably common flavor back in the 1970s when I was growing up -- most of the local, mom and pop ice cream shops carried it. Baskin Robbins even sold it, at least around Halloween.
I used to delight in the way it turned the tongue and lips ghastly black.
I haven't seen it in years and years. I've made my own a few times, since its just vanilla with a little anise oil added - I skipped the black food color, since its just for show.
I would be tickled to death to find it for sale somewhere one time, just for old times sake.

I first had it when I was about 13 years old and have been looking for it to no avail for over 40 years.

I don't think I've ever seen a commercial licorice ice cream. I'd love it. Licorice is one of my favorite flavors.

Used to get it all the time, and I think it was a Baskin Robbins, and yes, that was many years ago too.
I too have been looking for it for years, but nothing available in my area.

only this time about peppermint ice cream, does anyone have a recipe for theirs? I used to stock up during the few months of the year it was in the California stores, but there isn't even a store in Rhode Island. I've tried other peppermint ice creams, but they aren't as good, to my taste anyway.
