| Sorry, Pioneer Woman, three strikes and you're out!... |
|
I visit the Pioneer Woman website on occasion and have even made some pretty good dishes using her recipes. I like her sense of humor, too. And I realize these kinds of shows are hard to do. But I am shocked the Food Network would let this go on past a pilot!
I watched the first week and felt Ree was a little wooden and maybe just really nervous but something was just "off" about it. The second week wasn't much better.
The third week just made me gag. Men won't eat this or that. Women have to make this when their men are away. Her husband sounds like a real ass and she tired to present this as "oh, isn't this cute!" Barf. :puke: The husband won't touch a vegetable and the kids are happy to take after him.
And there wasn't much cooking going on during most of these shows.
I'm disappointed. I'm not sure what I expected but it sure wasn't this! The Food Network Humor site has a few interesting articles about it.
Have you seen the show?

| 1. Haven't seen the show. |

But I enjoy her blog. I think what we expect from professional cooking shows are professional presenters. Few people can perform while cooking--that's why so many cooking shows have contests (well, that and that reality shows are much easier and cheaper to produce) that are judged by people who are looking for more than cooking ability.
Aside from that, sounds like the Pioneer woman is trapped in a bad romance. To bad her husband and kids are, putting it nicely, picky eaters.

| 3. I rather got that attitude from her blogging. |
|
And didn't bother to catch her shows, maybe for that reason. I caught a Food Network preview and wasn't interested.
I like her blog and pics and recipes. That's enough for me.
Best wishes to her though.

"Bitchin Kitchen" is more my style, anyway. I just hope she does another season.
The long suffering housewife act would bore me to tears.

Her husband is a grade A-1 turd. Dismissive, inconsiderate, rude, and the tastebuds of a snotty five year old. Not to mention he walks in the house with filthy boots, and wears his hat inside the house. I'm from the south, and any man who wore his hat in the house was told to take it off, immediately. It's JUST NOT DONE.
Don't feel too bad for Ree, though. She has staff.
