My daughter got accepted into college!!!! Not just a brag post
My daughter dropped out of HS midway through Junior year. She went to community college. During the second semester, (probably the reason she dropped out of HS), she went into a severe depression and dropped out. After therapy and medications, she is working on her problems. She decided to take her SATs and finish HS. She did well on her SATs and since she was ahead in units she can graduate with her peers. I was freaked that no college would accept a student with such an unconventional background. She just got accepted!!!! No rejections yet!!! :bounce:

This restores my belief that there is a place for everyone.

This is the weirdness of parenthood. I'm way happier about this than when I was accepted into college.

1. Wonderful news!
Your daughter apparently has potential to make it in their school and that is all that matters. A tip of the hat to you!

2. Freshman attrition is legendary.. Her "unconventional route"
probably proves to them that she was a serious student who had already wporked out her "issues"..

Lots of smart 18 yr olds enter college, and fail big time:) Your daughter has her head on straight, and they recognized it..

Yay for her :)

3. Congratulations to your daughter, and you!!
That's great that she was accepted to college!! I'm also really glad that she was able to work out her problems with depression with therapy and medication. Some people struggle with that for much of their lives before getting help. Your daughter (and you, her family) were so smart to deal with the problem right away so that she can live her life to the fullest!

Congratulations to you both!!! What does she want to study in college (major in)?

4. At this point, she wants to major in Biology or Journalism
She hopes to connect with an international aid organiztion and work overseas. She's considering a md so she can work with doctors without borders.
