I'm going completely nuts
I was supposed to get a call today with the results of my daughter's mammogram -- also my mammogram, but she's the one who found a lump. I haven't eaten since Monday and don't think I've slept more than 2 hours at a time either.

NO ONE PHONED!

I just called the office and I got their answering service. The docs and nurses have already left for the day. You'd think that they would know I'm going insane with this waiting, right? That they would call and tell me the results aren't in? I'm not sure I can hang in there another day. Dammit.

1. Can they give you the results on the phone?
I thought this was a HIPPA violation. Have you talked to your daughter? has anyone called her?

I know it's so hard to wait. But hang in there. And also know that it's so great she went for the mammogram. Early detection is key.

I'll be thinking of you. Kepp us posted.

2. I've been in your position waiting for the call.
Sometimes, it is because they haven't heard anything from the lab or radiologist yet. Leave a message asking when you can expect to hear. They do this all the time, they should understand the anxiety but maybe you can take some comfort in the fact that they aren't worried. How old is your daughter?

6. Update -- we are to meet with doctors on Monday at 9:30
I really pressed for information over the phone, but the nurse would not give it. They've scheduled us to meet face-to-face with the doctor on Monday morning. I've got a really bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.

7. As a mom of a 14 yr old
I can totally emphasize with you. It's going to be a very long weekend. Maybe you can take your daughter to do something special to get your minds off the subject. Take the family to dinner, rent a lot of movies, go to a park for the afternoon. The key is to act as normal as you can for both of your sakes. It is easier to act normal when you are busy. I am sending you all my good thoughts and prayers. Please let us know how it turns out.

8. ~~~
I hope you two are hanging in there, keeping busy or enjoying a
beautiful day.

It might help to bring a pocket size notebook to take notes.
You can also request a copy of the mammogram report to go over later.
My thoughts are with you both.

9. Try not to worry
I don't think nurses can give out results. I hope everything turns out OK. My thoughts will be will you!
