I'll go first:

I hope I pass along my creativity, imagination and ability to entertain myself and think of things to do on my own.

I hope I don't pass along my perfectionism. Perfectionism is not a means to self-improvement, it's just a way to torture yourself and convince yourself that you don't really deserve any rewards no matter how hard you work.

4. My Dad told me I could do anything I want to do

My first experience was helping my dad rewire a toaster he and my mom got as a wedding gift. We used an old iron cord and it worked. The toaster was built in the early 1950's and I still have it, it still works (sort of). My dad died when I was 22, but with the conficence he instilled in me, I have tiled counters and floors, laid wood flooring, installed irrigation systems and even constructed a working waterfall. I am well known for my repair skills, I hope my son inherits my "I can do it" attitude. So far, it seems to be working, he does his own laundry, cleans his room and insists on helping me whenever a power tool is involved.

Pass on: my 100% unerring sense of direction, and the family trait of being handy with tools, repairs, etc.

Don't pass on: my all-around forgetfulness and absentmindedness.

So far it's hard to tell, but I think my almost-two-year-old has my wife's unfailing memory, and he has a good sense of direction as far as we can tell :-)
