At what age would/did you leave your children at home alone?

I know kids are different but when did you leave them home alone (for a couple of hours) for the first time? If you haven't been confronted with this at what age would you have done so?

1. I've let my 11 year old stay home for 1/2 hour to an hour or so

but I'm not really comfortable with more than that. I give him a huge talk about the neighbors, and calling me, and what to do if there is problem, etc.


But I probably won't let him stay home for a whole evening, or something, til he's 14 or so.


I think it really depends on the kid.
