| dressy casual outfit for an 11 year old boy attending a post Bar Mitzvah party? |

Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 11:38 AM by tigereye
I think this means nice pants, dressier shoes than Vans, and a jacket.
I assume that would be ok for the Bar Mitzvah at the synagogue, as well.
Any one have any ideas?
My husband is sick of hearing about this, evidently he thinks that kids should simply dress however they please, no matter what the occasion, as long as he doesn't have to hear about it!

That is exactly how I dressed my little guy for all his winter festivities. I got him a cozy cordoroy blazer, shoes that weren't sneakers, and some nice pants (that were soft and comfy too.) Worked fine for a bar mitvah party, orthodox funeral (had to add a nice button up shirt for this one), and winter song pageant at his pre-school. Just make sure your little one is comfy in the jacket. Otherwise he will peel it off whenever possible. If you are worried about cold just add a hat until you are all safely inside. I think you have the right idea. My hubby is never concerned about proper attire either. I just find ways to encourage him to dress appropriately. Flattery helps :o) Good luck!

| 3. well, I let him pick and he selected an Oxford type pin-stripe shirt, a pair |
|
of basic black dressy pants, he has a jacket he wore last year for picture day, etc, and a pair of Rockport-type preppie loafers.
So I think he will be ok.
I did get baleful looks every time he came out of the dressing room at Old Navy - they had all the stuff on sale.
thanks!

| 2. I'd say any pants but jeans, any shoes but sneakers |
|
and an oxford shirt or sweater.
