| preteens and meningitis vaccine? |
|
Any folks have their teens or preteens take the meningitis vaccine? This is a new requirement for our county schools, and I guess I'm a bit skeptical, partly since there have been some instances of kids contracting Gulliane- Barr Syndrome after taking newer Meningitis Vaccine Menactrin....
Any thoughts? Not trying to get into a vaccine flame war (I have no problem with long-standing, inexpensive and well-tested vaccines) but when they are newer vaccines with big ad budgets, I worry a bit.

I guess that's what gave me pause - they want kids grade 7 -12 to have them now.
thanks for your input!

My mother's friend died of meningitis when I was a kid. It was terrifying: she had a fever and a headache one afternoon, went to bed, and never woke up.
I had no idea that the vaccine even had an ad (I don't watch tv). His doctor mentioned it, and I went for it. My son's fine and I have one less worry (out of a million....)
