script to detect DU acct sharing/tag teams sharing an account? |
|
I can not prove it but I suspect some posters are really "tag teams"; ie multiple people may be collaborating. How about writing a log parser that compiles timestamp and word count metrics, looking for accounts w/ a ridiculously high number of posts, and responses per day?
Perhaps this already exists.

1. Not really sure how it would work. I've gone for three months with maybe eight posts, |
|
and then I've posted six or seven hundred in a week

2. Unless you have access to DU's access and login logs plus account information... |
|
I don't see how that is possible, at least for a user. The Admins, on the other hand, can look for such commonalities and rectify the situation if there is an abuse of multiple accounts from the same IP address. Most of the time, I don't think they would care, usually multiple accounts from the same IP address means a couple or roommates living together and using the same computer or ISP account.
The Admins could write a script to look for that in the logs, however, it only works on accounts with static IPs, ISPs that assign a different IP everytime you logon would be slightly harder to track.
