I have to say I agree. I don't care for Unity or GNOME 3. I want it simple. I want it clean. And I want it to work.

Plus autocad works like it should in 10.10 whereas in 11.?? its a mess. Autocad is why I have a computer today

I like to try the new distros but I'll have to pass on the next ones as long as they'll have unity, I flat ass don't like unity

What I will most likely do is eventually switch to Mint as they seem to be resisting the switch to Unity and Gnome 3.

It looks like they're doing really good things, and they also are also very interested in and responsive to user feedback and requests. I'm definitely keeping an eye on them.

I also used PCLinuxOS on a trial basis, but like Linux Mint Debian, the rolling updates make me a bit uneasy. I am definitely impressed with the ease of use of PCLOS, though, considering that it's not Ubuntu-based. I also like that they have an E17 spin. When I first started playing with Linux beyond vanilla Ubuntu, I was initiated by OpenGEU (formerly Geubuntu), which used E17 and filled in the gaps with Gnome. It was a really good project, but the developers were too few and too busy, apparently, to keep it going. A real shame, because it was really elegant.

6. Speaking of mint is there a way of completely getting rid of the green

My favorite color is green but this green they use doesn't work for me, I'd like to not see it anywhere in the menu etc. I've tried everything I know to get rid of it but to no avail. I personalize/hack my install of whatever OS I'm using by getting rid of shit I don't use and adding stuff that I do so I've tried about everything I know to get rid of the green and do get rid of it for the most part but every now and then there will be that ugly ass green color pop up.
I'm hoping you or someone else will feel sorry for me and fill me in on how to do just that and I'll always be indebted to them, Hell I'd even dance at a wedding if need be and I can't even dance :-) my anxiety just locks me up.

I hope Torvalds gets his wish as I'm put out by unity too. I like the gnone desktop environment best. I remove the bottom panel and put very little on the top panel which I auto hide. I change the panel size to 22 so as to give me more desktop space.

I like putting/keeping minimize, size and x on the left side too and in that order.
