Anyone watch that program on Lincoln they have going?
I wish I could remember the person speaking but he was talking about how at the on-set and first couple years of the Civil War quite a few Americans saw Lincoln as a dictator for the actions he was taking.
This guy went on to say how other Presidents who I will not name, trying to call themselves War Presidents tried to pull the same thing. Then said, "War on Terror, might as well have a War on Dandruff."
I know I chopped it up but that was the basic jist heh.
One thing I never knew though, Lincoln was the only President to actually be in the front during a war and take fire from enemy troops. Apparently during a battle at one of the forts around DC, Lincoln went out to it. Southern troops were within firing range, a Union officer standing beside Lincoln was shot. Amazing that he came out unscathed, espicially being the big target he was and standing out. Never will see Bush in a fighting zone or say Falluja.
