history? I've started a thread in the World history group about WWII in the Pacific. And though there might be some useful input from Presidential historians here.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=277x257At any rate, specifically the vast expansion of the US Navy was NOT planned after Pearl Harbor--many of the ships which demolished the Empire were already building when that occured, this coupled with our persistent drift towards the open cooperation with the Allies (Neutrality patrol, lend lease etc) does any consensus exist on when the US might've joined the war had we not been attacked on December 7th?
