Expanded from the widely praised
http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/maritime/slavery/index.asp">slavery gallery in the Merseyside Maritime Museum, the gallery is an unflinching examination of the part of the Port of Liverpool in the slave trade. The basis of Liverpool's later pre-eminence as a port came from the slave trade and flourished along with other British ports, most notably Bristol and London on the backs of the trans-Atlantic traffic.
I thought that the links between the British slave trade and the Americas might be of interest to some of the people here.
