need help with problem with Radeon X1950 video card

I'm getting this message when I boot up my computer since I upgraded to 64 bit Windows 7 Home Edition. I tried going to ATI's website for an updated driver but not having any luck.


Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

How do I resolve this issue without having to purchase a newer video card.

1. The problem may be in the DirectX support. DirectX9c is supported but DirectX10 is not. n/t

2. can I delete DirectX10 ?

and install DirectX9c instead?

3. Not sure. Does add/remove in the control panel let you remove directX10.

I doubt it. Directx10 was designed for Vista and DirectX9c will not run on Vista or 7 OS. The whole file structure was redesigned for newer OS so all software needs to adapt. It going to take time and lots of trial and error.
