| Google installer has encountered a problem |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-01-10 07:52 AM by DemReadingDU
This error has been popping up on spouse's computer. So I went into add/remove programs and deleted the google toolbar. The error still pops-up on start-up, and occasionally other times.
So tried to run my weekly routine of Spybot. Spybot will not run. Something is preventing it from executing.
He can get to the Internet using either IE or Firefox.
Next I decided to download a new Spybot. It downloads, but will not run.
What next? Thanks.
edit: His computer talks intermittently, about football. weird.

| 1. Google how to uninstall google installer |
|
and that should lead you to a solution. There's a small program that is good for cleaning up and getting rid of things of that nature and it's called RegSeeker, google it and then use the find feature and look for any reference to google installer in the registry and delete them all. Its a good small executable file that you don't have to install or anything and it does a great job of cleaning up the windows registry. Back in my windows days it was my favorite tool for removing programs or any number of different features. Oh and its free too.

| 2. ok. tried to rename the executable Malwarebytes |
|
but that wouldn't run either. Next is to try running the renamed Malwarebytes in SafeMode, or maybe from a thumb-drive I found some good ideas here... http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=63e63bfbdf669255&hl=en Thanks for your help!
