| New Bose speakers won't play on new Dell computer. |
|
I bought a new Dell computer and two new Bose speakers. The computer is great, very fast.
But, I can't get any sound from my speakers. They are hooked up correctly, I checked 10 times. They are plugged in. All of my computer sound settings are off 'mute'. THere is a sound card--RealTek and it is enabled. But, I got nothing. Any ideas?
I don't see an on/off switch on the speakers, but have the volume at half looking for sound.

| 1. Try some headphones or another set of speakers in the jack.. |
|
You can also try touching the speaker plug with your finger when it's out of the jack, you should get a hum noise of some sort when you touch it if the speakers are working..
If your sound card has more than one audio output (such as for front and rear channels) you could be plugged into the wrong jack..

| 2. The speakers are live, touching the end made a clear noise |

If you have an IDT sound card (and some Dell models do) go into the control panel and look for the icon for the speakers. turn OFF power management.
If that doesn't work (or you don't have IDT) go to the sound icon in the control panel and make sure your output is showing the proper plug.
