| Web Hosting FTP Confusion |
|
Our website also has a ftp feature. The printers have been using this function to upload, from the client, the print job, which they then send to the printing press, which prints out the job. Now they say that if a client has no program, such as file zilla, they need me to remove the limitation on ftp amounts. Huh? What are they talking about? The website host allows me to purchase 4GH with webhosting. What is the difference? Why do I need this? Are they trying to pull a fast one? If so, to do what? I don't get it. Can anyone help? Thanks dc

FileZilla is just one of many FTP (file transfer protocol) clients. Limitations on file size can help prevent others from using up all your disk space on the server. Not sure why they would want to remove the limits. Adding more limits or disabling the feature is the normal recommendation of your client does not use it, since FTP servers are a hacking target.

| 2. It appears all I had to do was enable or launch the web hosting. |

But now, when I return to it, it says set up error. The website is already using the webhosting. It had said we get one free webhosting, but maybe that is the one we use for the website. So maybe we do have to add a hosting account to enable ftp. I'll see what happens tomorrow. dc
