Upgraded to Win 7 - Outlook Mail SUX!! help |
|
Outlook Mail is going to make me blind. :wtf: is with all the buttons, gizmos and bullshit. I just want to send, receive, forward and reply. I HATE it! Have used Windows Mail and that's as complicated as I need to get.
Am I stuck with this? I've gotten a friggen headache and my eyes hurt. x(
Other than Outlook Mail, I'm liking Win7. The 'kid' just installed it today and I have a lot of tweaking to do.

my son gave me the impression (he loves to torture me) that Win7 came with Outlook and that's what I have to use. I'm going to kill the little bastid.

6. I used Lycos for about a year. |
|
Hated that one. I would type a long email and poooof - gone. Frustrating.
For my needs Gmail would probably be fine. :) Thanks for the link.

9. lol I love you geek types |
|
you all hate MS with a passion and you always find good things for 'free'.
Geez, don't ya like Melinda and Bill - their such philanthropists. It's easy for you guys, you understand - this is greek to me. Hi-Tech back in the day was an IBM Selectric typewriter. So when I get comfortable with something it's hard to give it up.
I'll try try Mozilla - the 'kid' likes it.
Thanks.
My son told me not to pester you. :P

10. I'm using Outlook 2003 on Win 7 and it works slick as a whistle. |
|
Guess it's what you are used to. I know the newer versions of Office have a lot different look to them, but I don't see any greater value over the 2003 functionality. I've used Outlook for over 10 years in my business and have never had an issue...I've got 12 gig's of mail in archives (split between 2 files) and I am working with a third now. The thing that I like about the Outlook program is the easy manipulation of e-mails within Windows. I do a lot of project management and I do a lot of drag and drop of these e-mails into folders so I have the information all in one place and I don't have to spend a lot of time trying to find e-mails in the Outlook database. The search function kind of sucks and takes too long. I've looked at the Windows Live e-mail - I think that's the Outlook Express of the new OS. It has some of the new Office designs....I just don't like it as well as Outlook 2003.
Off thread subject, but the new Win 7 search function is a lot better than what I remember in XP. I found the XP search so crappy, that I switched to Google Desktop search. I've had a problem getting Google Desktop Search to work on my business computer (which is odd because it works fine on my Win 7 laptop). So I started trying out the built-in Win 7 search (I access primarily from the "Start" menu). Seems to be just as quick as the Google version. Is there any gadget or shortcut anyone is aware of that can add this to the desktop? It works pretty slick. Search on a term, right click on the item(s) that it finds and you can open the folder where the file is located.
