what it took to reinstall Windows XP on this computer.
First, it wouldn't recognize my keyboard so I couldn't move beyond the screen where I had to hit enter to get it to reinstall. Then it would recognize my mouse and asked for a file for something that I couldn't use the mouse to browse to find and wouldn't know where to find it anyway.
Finally, somehow, some way I got it to install. Then it wanted to 'set up your windows' and again needed a mouse. I just shut it down at that point and restarted and got to my Desktop. I had to load up numerous drivers, etc.
I've been working on this stupid computer for 2 days. Yes, I know, this is what I should have done from the get go.
On my to do list is to purchase a new computer.
I just had to get this out. Sorry to rant here.

but I just ordered a new one. It's time for an upgrade as this one is 6 years old.
Good luck! I hope you get it straightened out.
