Is there a way to make a do it thing for frequent operations? |
|
The kind of thing I mean is I often set show hidden files for when I back up (so I can get the thunderbird database) and I would like, instead of pawing through the control panel and folder options, to have a little do it item of some sort that I could just click to toggle this. Is there a way to do that? Windows XP. Thanks.

1. Would I be correct in assuming that you turn off "show hidden" |
|
when you are done doing the backup? If so, why turn it off?
The easy solution for the Thunderbird database would be to turn off its hidden attribute.

because I'm tired of seeing those squiggle files that seem like some sort of Word tmp files is my guess. All files have a way to be marked not hidden? Does that carry down to all the files in the subfolders even if they are created later? Thanks.

3. All those .tmp files you can delete. |
|
Window has a tendency not to delete them when it is done with them and they can pile up. It Windows needs them again, it will regenerate them.

5. The view options in Explorer |
|
will control whether or not File Explorer ignores the hidden attribute for all files.
If you just want to see the hidden db file(s) from Thunderbird, you can just select that file(s), right-click, properties, uncheck the "hidden" attribute.

6. I think I would forget |
|
for example, if i create a new mail subfolder. Just flipping global hidden off and on seems safer. Thanks anyway.
