I have a spare 10 gallon tank laying around, and I was thinking about getting a pair of Axolotls. Does anyone here have any experience with them? I've found a couple dealers who have them, but one will only supply educational and research projects, not "pets." I've found most of the basics online, but I just wanted to see if anyone had tips.
One major issue is water depth. Everywhere online said they only needed a depth equal to their length plus a couple inches. But I'd like to fill the tank all the way, since that way I can just use a spare Whisper filter, instead of a sponge filter, or submersible power filter. They're fully aquatic, so they don't need any surfaces above the water; I would assume I could fill it then, but I didn't want to do it if it might cause problems.
