I say that thinking of the two hours that I spent last night addressing envelopes for my shelter www.angelswithpaws.net last night. We were sending out letters asking for tax deductible donations from people who've donated in the past.It seems that my shelter is broke, dead broke and is having a really tough time of it. We don't make any money on our cats- with having to pay for their spaying or neutering and shots, etc. We have garage sales to help raise money and we also have a room at the local antique mall. But, we are hurting. This shelter was started by a woman who used to volunteer at the local "kill" shelter. She used to work with this man who was a grump. The last straw for her was seeing this man come back from taking a bunch of cats to go euthanize them and he would come back with a big SMILE. What a sick man. He should never have been working at a shelter. I found out last night from another volunteer that he went off the deep end not shortly after that- grabbing whatever animal was close to go kill. I don't know how many he got, but he was fired not long after that. You hear these stories at the shelters and it just breaks your heart.
So, please, I beg of you- if you have any extra money give to your shelter- especially the smaller ones that don't receive any public assistance, or if you don't have one- my shelter would appreciate it. Angels with Paws 2540 Youngfield Street, Lakewood, CO 80215
Thank you O8)
